You might not even have a PS5 yet, and now you finally have a reason to be happy: Once you do buy one, you can buy one of the newer model. No one wanted the white PS5 anyway, not in this day and age, when life is so colorful and varied. I need my console to reflect that, and not look like a rejected Wi-Fi router. At least these new models look like colorful routers. There's a difference. Let's examine:

Sony Is Releasing the PS5 in New Colors

The colors in question are:

  • Midnight Black
  • Cosmic Red
  • Nova Pink
  • Starlight Blue
  • Galactic Purple

Or, you know... just... black, red, pink, blue, and purple... but hey, whatever sells better. Here's the official – and extremely boring – details, straight from Sony themselves:

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PlayStation 5 console covers will become available starting in January 2022 at participating retailers in the following locations: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines. The Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue PlayStation 5 console covers will also launch in these locations during the first half of 2022We plan to launch the PlayStation 5 console covers in additional territories during the year, and we’ll announce those details as they become available. The exact launch dates for both the new DualSense wireless controller colors and the new PlayStation 5 console covers in select regions may vary by location, so be sure to check your local retailer for availability.

If you're from Luxembourg or Lichtenstein, it seems like you'll have this one out for once. Shocking. Get ready for scalpers to snatch these new models up as well, when they release in January 2022. Oh, and while we're at it: If you already own a PS5, don't forget to cop your free Apple TV+ membership.
