After a relatively quiet February, we are excited to announce that March is shaping out to be...better? Though no original release really qualifies as blockbuster, there are some ports and lowkey gems that should easily make PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners more excited than last month.

While the first couple of months following the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S saw a bunch of major launches – Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077 and Hitman 3 standing out the most – February's highlight was Destruction AllStars and even that isn't shaping to be more than a short-lived middle of the road title.

We see more potential in March, with the asterisk being that the most anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases in March are ports and not launches. Still counts! Speaking of counting, let's see what March has in store for next-gen console gamers.

March Game Releases: Maquette

  • Release date: March 2
  • Platforms: PS5

We begin the month of March with a unique puzzle game. Maquette is likely to get you all up in the feels, so if you're looking for a lightweight puzzle adventure, it's best to look elsewhere.

March Game Releases: Yakuza: Like a Dragon

  • Release date: March 2
  • Platforms: PS5

It's almost as difficult to follow the release cycle of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, as it is to follow what the hell is going on in the game. If everything goes as planned, which is not always the case with Yakuza, we should all be able to enjoy the bizarre RPG on all platforms from March 2, when the PS5 is set to join the party.

March Game Releases: Sir Lovelot

  • Release date: March 3
  • Platforms: PS5

The most obscure title on the list is also the last one to be announced. Like most platformers, this one looks like a ton of fun, which will be measured by how frustrating gameplay mechanics are going to be. A bit weird is the launch, which covers practically every platform there is except Xbox Series X|S. There will be an Xbox One version though. Go figure...

March Game Releases: Monster Truck Championship

  • Release date: March 11
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Here we go with the first game launching for both platforms simultaneously. Exciting times! How can they not be when we're talking bloody monster trucks?! Other words aren't really necessary here - monster trucks, baybeeeee!

March Game Releases: Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame 4

  • Release date: March 11
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

We're staying on wheels for our next entry. The fourth edition of the annual Supercross simulation series is launching in late winter as usual. If monster trucks are a little too monstery for you, there's a ready alternative.

March Game Releases: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

  • Release date: March 12
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Don't get confused by the title. This is not the fourth installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, but in all reality - who cares? It's the best game Activision has released in the past five years and if you disagree, you don't exist because this is a unanimous statement. Hyperbole out of the way, this is definitely the most hyped next-gen port in March.

March Game Releases: Marvel's Avengers

  • Release date: March 18
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

The final words on Crash Bandicoot with Marvel's Avengers appearing right after might have you confused. Surely Marvel gathers more interest than some platformer? Nope. Maybe corniness works for Marvel in theaters but definitely not on the video game market. Would save my money if I were you.

March Game Releases: Balan Wonderworld

  • Release date: March 26
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

March 26 is a big day for next-gen console owners. A super-trio of games launches on that date. The first of those: Balan Wonderworld. If you enjoy Disney movies on any level, then you're pretty much the target audience here.

March Game Releases: It Takes Two

  • Release date: March 26
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Whoever says these relationship co-ops are only fun when playing as a romantic couple, is a f@#$ing liar. This platformer looks like the epitomy of fun, so don't be prejudiced, grab a friend and bring Cody and May back together!

March Game Releases: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

  • Release date: March 26
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

The third launch scheduled for March 26 is also the final one we're going to cover. On one hand, it's a remaster of 20-year-old games, on the other, it's a remaster of universally beloved 20-year-old games, so we'll call it even and conclude that it's a good way to close this article.
