Red Dead Redemption 3 is definitely happening, that much we know. But who will be the main character?
Alright, so if you're not into Red Dead Redemption, you wouldn't be reading this article, but... if you somehow don't like RDR or never played it, then you should definitely remedy that mistake A$AP. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece, and, to me, it's easily the best game of the generation. It's no surprise then that people are expecting a follow-up, and it's also no surprise that Rockstar is working on one: Recently, Take-Two CEO Zelnick Strauss confirmed that there are many more Red Dead Redemption games to come.
If you want to know everything there is to know about Red Dead Redemption 3, then this article is for you, but if you just want to speculate on the possible main character... well, then let's do this:
Who Will Be the Main Character in Red Dead Redemption 3?
Well, there are three characters that are garnering the most heat on the internet: Charles Smith, Jack Marston, and Landon Ricketts. Now, either of those three is a good choice, but, quite honestly, Charles Smith is the least likely – sadly. If you know me, you know I would love to get my outlaw on with a Native American, and explore a different side of the Wild West. Especially considering Charles' mixed black heritage, this would make for a very interesting story, and a very unique entry in the Red Dead Redemption franchise. Still, when comparing that possibility to that of Jack Marston and Landon Ricketts, it's a long shot.
Jack Marston would slot in nicely, but I do think that the Marstons' storyline was already tied up perfectly, and I really don't see Rockstar revisiting it. Plus, it's a bit too cliché for the way they operate. Also... there's the fact that Jack Marston's storyline has him becoming a successful author and a happy family man, rather than a gunslinger.
Landon Ricketts does seem like a likely choice, considering that he is a famous gunslinger that's somewhat established, and would fit right into the universe that Rockstar built, while also allowing them to keep going back in time - deeper and deeper into the golden era of the Wild West. I don't think Rockstar wants to push too close to the first World War, which is why Landon Ricketts seems more likely than Jack Marston, while his traditional gunslinger persona makes him more likely than Charles Smith.
