Henry Cavill is Witcher Geralt, might be Commander Shepard and now wants to be in a Red Dead Redemption movie. What’s going on here?!
Let’s be real here. Henry Cavill has taken over the world of gaming and every gamer out there has just kind of adopted this big man-teddy bear. We all want to either be him, be friends with him or… well. I’m sure he knows the last one, but I’m not spelling it out.
Witcher Geralt has turned even the straightest of dudes gay (if you deny it, you’re one of those men) and if he indeed turns out to play Commander Shepard in the upcoming Mass Effect series, then I will officially throw myself out the window because I can’t anymore. I just can’t.
Neither of these games is our focus today, though. Today, we’re talking about what Henry Cavill has said in an interview with Gamereactor after he was asked what video game he would like to be turned into a Netflix movie or a series starring himself.
Hmmm... aww, that's a very good one. Well, that's a tricky one, 'cause you're tying both an IP and a company together, which is a tricky thing to do, so I certainly don't want to put myself in any corners with that, but there are plenty of games out there... I've actually started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 - I know I'm a little bit late to that party - but I started playing it and I'm really enjoying it. And so, something like that I think would be fun to turn into a movie
Is Henry Cavill Starring In A Red Dead Redemption Movie?
Honestly? Could be. I’m actually 100% convinced that if they offered him the role, he would accept it. Just look at his portfolio. Witcher, possibly Mass Effect and we know he’s an avid gamer. He literally said it in the quote himself, he’s “really enjoying [Red Dead Redemption 2]”.
The question is: would he play an existing character or would he play someone new that’s just set in the universe? There are obviously tons of characters that we could picture Henry Cavill playing, but - in my opinion - there is not one main hero like with Shepard or Geralt. So I could also see him just play someone new set in that universe.
Right now, that’s a project for the future, though. Henry Cavill is currently busy with Argylle, Enola Holmes 2, Highlander and The Rosie Project. Top that off with a possible Witcher Season 3 season and a Mass Effect show, and the guy is booked out for the next couple of years… which is probably the time it would take to make a Red Dead show or movie happen anyway.
