Counter Strike: Globla Offensive is known for it's insane re-sale prices of in-game skins, but this one is probably one of the most expensive skins in the entire game, having been sold for almost $160,000.
Imagine spending over $100K on a skin in an online game. Well, there are people out there who pride themselves in their large skin collections, whether that be in games like Fortnite, League of Legends or VALORANT. One game takes the cake though when it comes to steep skin prices and that is CS:GO.
Recently, a Chinese collector raked over almost $160,000 for a skin with a rare sticker.
CS:GO AK-47 Skin Sells For Record Price
On March 13, a Chinese collector forked over €149,000, or roughly $160,000, for an AK-47 Wild Lotus skin. Why is this skin so expensive though that it can cost as much as a car or a trip around the world?
The Wild Lotus skin is one of the rarest skins in the game, with only 3,000 skins in circulation and even fewer in the rare 'Factory New' condition collectors wish their skins to be in. Now that isn't the entire reason why the skin has such a steep price tag.
- You don't have money for such an expensive skin? Don't worry there is some great gaming gear out there for affordable prices as well !
A normal Factory New Wild Lotus will cost a collector around $10,000. The reason this exact skin sold for so much was thanks to the four Reason Holo stickers from the Katowice 2014 CS:GO Major that had been applied.
A single one of these stickers can go for $40,000 on the CS:GO market and adding them onto the weapon will increase its price tag. Thankfully the colour of these sticker matches the original skin perfectly, so they blend in well together and the final product looks pretty nice.
This skin was bought by the collector on March 13, 2023 on Buff, the biggest China-based marketplace for CS:GO trading. The collector had to pay €148,937.73 ($159,653.80) for the skin, but if we look at some other items on the site, then we know that this isn't even the most expensive on there.
Another AK-47 skin is still up for sale. Anyone who is willing to pay $400,000 can be the proud owner of a Case Hardened 661 pattern, with four Titan Holo stickers from Katowice 2014.

These skins are extremely rare with these unique older stickers from OG CS:GO events, but fear not, collectors often lend out their skins to pro players to show off the skins on the biggest esports stage. The AK-47 Wild Lotus had previously been loaned out to FaZe Clan player Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken by the previous owner.
So if you want to just appreciate the skin without spending hundreds and thousands of dollars, just make sure to tune in to the biggest esports events out there.
