Microsoft loves fancy titles and Smart Delivery is their latest one. You might have heard that a lot of current gen games allow you to download the next gen version for free. Other games don't have a next-gen version, but instead will simply look better on next-gen systems. Microsoft now calls this Smart Delivery. Which games get those upgrades? We got the list for you:
The Xbox Series X is out and if you were lucky enough to get your hands on one then... half of our team is jealous. But also, you should know that some of your games may get optimized for the Xbox Series X. Also, you should know that some games that are crossing the generation gap with a release for the Xbox One and the Series X, do not need to be bought twice. Microsoft calls this Smart Delivery.
All games that are included in said Smart Delivery, will automatically download their upgraded next-gen version without any hassle. Not all third-party developers are on board though. There are several games - like Madden NFL 21, FIFA 21, NBA 2K21 and Call of Duty Black Ops - that charge for next gen upgrades. With those games, automatic upgrades are limited to specific, more expensive and exclusive editions.

Games with a Smart Delivery will automatically be flagged for an upgrade in your games library. If you have the disc, the system it should automatically start the download for the upgrade once you insert the disc.
Good to know: Eligible Game Pass titles will also receive the Smart Delivery upgrade!
