Splitgate Season 0: New Map, New Modes & The First Battle Pass

S Plit Gate Season 0 Launch
And so it begins... | © 1047 Games

The Splitgate team announced the launch ofSeason 0 a few hours ago. It's bringing an impressive amount of new content: a new map, a new mode, and even a Battle Pass. So here's a complete rundown of everything we're getting from Splitgate: Season 0.

Splitgate is the ultimate rags-to-riches story in gaming; two college students start a project in their dorm room that eventually gets so big, it's featured in Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase. We're happy to see their success, and they deserve it. Splitgate is a blast and well worth trying if you haven't.

Now things are stepping up, though. This isn't just an impressive amateur attempt anymore. Streamers are coming over, people will expect an esports scene soon, and the player base needs their content. Splitgate is 'going live', so let's see how well they've done with their first season.

Does Season 0's Launch Mean Splitgate Has Been Fully Released?

No, Splitgate is still in beta. You can see this has caused a ton of confusion online, so we wanted to clear it up before we dig into the meat of the seasonal content. The game will launch soon, but until then, we have Season 0, and yes, even a Battle Pass. But it's a free-to-play game, so quit complaining!

The Content

Splitgate: Season 0 - New Map

Perhaps most excitingly of all to players, a new map has been added – Karman Station. This map is set in outer space and features a very exposed central area and a sniper tower. We expect this one to quickly become a fan favorite.

More shooter news, to calm your fragging desires:

Splitgate: Season 0 - New Mode

The new mode, Contamination, is kind of like Halo's brains, a zombie-style mode. Basically, one player is using melee weapons and must 'contaminate' the other players. One by one, the contaminated join the zombies until only one ordinary player remains. It's a bit of a party mode, which Splitgate needed.

Splitgate: Season 0 - The Battle Pass

First things first, here's what you can get:

Splitgate Battle Pass Season0
A decent collection, provided you jive with game's aesthetic| © 1047 Games

This is a very conventional Battle Pass,

  • It's going to cost 1000 Splitcoin, which is about 10 dollars (so, the industry-standard).
  • There are 100 levels, each providing new cosmetic content (again, the industry-standard).
  • You can get about 7 dollars worth of the cost back by completing the Battle Pass and winning back Splitcoin.

They're going with the tried and tested Battle Pass here, but who can blame them? No need to fix what isn't broken.
