SpongeBob SquarePants is getting a new game: THQ Nordic is working on SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. What platforms is the game coming to, and when is the release date? We have the answers.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is just weeks away, and now we're getting some more SpongeBob: THQ Nordic is working on another game featuring our favorite sponge, after releasing SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off for the Switch earlier this year.

We're getting SpongeBob goodness everywhere these days:

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake – What We Know

It seems like you'll be able to play as both SpongeBob and Patrick and the story will revolve around them almost ripping open the fabric of time and space. How? Well, naturally, a fortune-teller handed them Mermaid's Tears, which grant wishes, and, naturally, SpongeBob and Patrick's wishes were way too enthusiastic for anyone's good. Long story short: You save Bikini Bottom from the chaos you started.

THQ Nordic also revealed some game features:

  • The game will feature the Fishhook Swing and the Karate Kick
  • There will be more than 30 outfits, like the SnailBob and SpongeGar
  • There will be 7 worlds to explore, including Wild West Jellyfish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom
  • There is voice-acting from all the original actors
  • The game will feature 101 songs from the TV series

As of now, we don't have a release date yet, but we do know that the game is 'coming soon'. We think a release before Christmas is realistic, because, let's face it, every SpongeBob fan is gonna want this under their Christmas tree. There is no way THQ Nordic is missing out on the holiday season with this one.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will release on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. Yup, no next-gen for this one... Oh, and here's the trailer, by the way. Now, there's no way that the cinematics from the trailer are what the game's actually going to look like, but... if it does end up looking like this... I mean... Imma be checking under my Christmas tree, you get me?
