In Starfield, having enough carry weight is crucial for your interstellar adventures. Whether you're a seasoned explorer or just starting, here's a simple guide to help you increase your carry weight.

How To Get More Carry Weight In Starfield

There are multiple options for carrying more weight in Starfield. Some are quite trivial, whilst others are a bit cheaty.

1. Sell or Drop Unnecessary Items

Sometimes, it's best to let go of items that you don't need. Sell valuable items to vendors for profit, or drop unnecessary junk to lighten your load. Keeping your inventory tidy can help you manage your carry weight more efficiently.

2. Equip Power Armor (If Available)

In some situations, you might come across power armor. Equipping power armor can significantly increase your carry weight capacity. So, keep an eye out for this valuable piece of equipment during your travels.

3. Upgrade Your Spaceship

Your spaceship isn't just for getting around, it's also your mobile base. Consider upgrading your spaceship to include storage compartments. These upgrades can significantly boost your overall carry weight.

4. Increase Strength Stat

Your character's strength stat directly affects your carry weight. When creating your character, consider allocating points to strength if you plan on carrying a lot of items. Additionally, as you level up in the game, you can choose perks that further enhance your carrying capacity.

5. Craft or Purchase Larger Backpacks

As you progress in Starfield, you'll have the opportunity to craft or purchase larger backpacks. These backpacks provide additional carry weight, making them a valuable accessory for adventurers who want to haul more loot.

6. Deposit Items in Containers

When exploring planets or space stations, take advantage of containers and storage units. You can temporarily unload some of your items into these containers and retrieve them later when needed. Just be cautious and remember where you left your stuff!

7. Use Console Commands (Cheaty)

If you want an instant boost to your carry weight, you can use console commands. Press the tilde key (~) to open the console and then type “player.modav carryweight X” (without quotation marks), where X is the amount of carry weight you want to add. For example, if you want to increase your carry weight by 100, type “player.modav carryweight 100” and hit Enter.

On PC, you can set this number as high as you like. The Xbox doesn't have a console, but you can crosssave a modded version on PC and play it on Xbox. Here, the carryweight is capped to 1000.

BUT: If you modify your game code with the “player.modav carryweight” command, your game will be flagged as modded, and you can no longer claim achievements. So you better think twice about this method, since achievements are a core part of the game.

With these tips, you'll be able to carry more loot and explore the cosmos to your heart's content in Starfield. Whether you prefer using console commands, increasing your strength, or upgrading your gear, there are plenty of ways to expand your carrying capacity in this vast and immersive universe. Safe travels, spacefarer!
