Tifa Final Fantasy VII — **5. Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII)**

She'll probably be familiar to you even if you're not the biggest Final Fantasy fan. After all, she's one of the most important characters in the series' most famous installment, Final Fantasy VII.

Tifa is a specialist in close combat and a member of the resistance group Avalanche against the Shinra company. She wants to take revenge for Shinra destroying her home village. What makes Tifa so special and endearing, besides her storyline, is her caring personality. She is always there for her allies and gives them emotional support. That's why we support Tifa as one of our favorite characters in the Final Fantasy franchise! (Image credit: Square Enix)

Lightning Final Fantasy VIII — **4. Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)**

Normally, each game in the main series is standalone. Even though Final Fantasy is a SERIES of games, each title has a different story and plays largely independently of the other spin-offs. So did Final Fantasy XIII, but the 13th installment eventually became an entire trilogy!

FF XIII was followed by FF XIII-2, as well as Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and perhaps that was due to the main character, a young woman where even her name remains a mystery for a long time, so she is known simply as Lightning. Vivi Final Fantasy IX — **3. Vivi Ornitier (Final Fantasy IX)**

First of all, Vivi has a very cool design with his "body" being more of a shadow or dark aura, and his matching bright yellow eyes in a wizard's robe. That's the clue that Vivi is a wizard – and one with a nice story.

At first, he's shy, naive, and lacks self-confidence but on his journey with the protagonist Zidane and the group, he becomes braver and more confident, so he uses his magic skills to protect his friends. Sephiroth ff vii remake — **2. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)**

The angel with only one wing – honestly, listen to his theme "One-Winged Angel", the track is simply a banger! Few villains in video game history are as iconic as Sephiroth, the main antagonist from the seventh Final Fantasy installment.

Already feared as an elite unit of Shinra's SOLDIER program, he later sets out to destroy the world. Sephiroth is madness and it came as no surprise that he was announced at the Game Awards as a new character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Just like in Final Fantasy VII, he's held up on our list of best characters by his eternal nemesis. (Image credit: Square Enix)

Cloud Final Fantasy VII — **1. Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)**

Another character from Final Fantasy VII? Yes, we know what you want to say but we can't help it! FF VII is the most popular game in the series – and rightfully so because it's the best! Cloud as the main character of this part is for Final Fantasy is what Mario is for Nintendo and Sonic for Sega – he is the face of the franchise.

When you think of FF, you think of Cloud! After leaving Shinra's SOLDIER program, he joins the Avalanche group around Tifa. He learns of his past and does everything he can to protect his new friends in the fight against Shinra and Sephiroth. With his iconic Buster Sword, he deserves the top spot in our ranking. Final Fantasy is one of the best and most successful JRPG video game series of all time. The role-playing game franchise is one of the flagships of Square Enix, also known for the Dragon Quest series and the Kingdom Hearts games. There are now 15 spin-offs of the main Final Fantasy series, some of which even include several parts and others have already received remakes. So many games also means numerous stories with many great characters. Today, we take a look at our favorite characters in Final Fantasy games!
