Valorant is currently one of the most played FPS games, closely behind CS2. With its unique blend of precise gun play, character-based abilities, and competitive gameplay, Valorant has quickly become a favorite among gamers worldwide. Given its popularity, the question on many fans' minds is whether Valorant will ever receive a sequel. Will we ever get a Valorant 2?

Until now, Riot has never mentioned any intention of making a sequel to Valorant, therefore we think it's unlikely that they will release a sequel in the near future.

Ultimately, the decision to create Valorant 2 will depend on the development within the industry, player demand, and Riot Games' long-term strategy. Luckily, Riot is quite open about their development process and goals with the community, as they regularly keep fans updated on YouTube or through other channels.

A sequel to Valorant would only make sense if it had a compelling reason for players to migrate from the original game to the sequel, while maintaining the essence of what made Valorant great.

Another factor to consider is the financial aspect of a sequel. Riot Games makes a significant amount of money through in-game microtransactions, primarily from the sale of cosmetic items like weapon skins, agent skins, and battle passes. A sequel would need to find a way to bring these purchases into the new game, or risk losing the revenue stream.

In recent months, we've seen a few games get sequels, like Overwatch 2 and CS2. However, these sequels didn't bring significant changes to the gaming experience; they felt like the same game with a fresh coat of paint to grab attention. And they took their sweet time with these sequels: Overwatch 2 came in 2022, six years after the first game, with CS2 coming out in 2023, 11 years after the release of CS:GO.

We probably won't see Valorant 2 anytime soon, then. If Riot Games were to follow this path, it would probably also take them many years to finally pull the trigger. Valorant is still popular and gets constant updates with new content. So, there's no urgent need for a sequel right now.
