If you're anything like us, then you can't wait for The Witcher 4. We already summed up everything we know about the game in our Witcher 4 hub article, but now we got a new piece of information directly from CD Projekt Red:

The Witcher 4 Will Start Development in 2022

The news comes via CDPR boss Adam Kicinski himself, who was interviewed by the Polish paper Rzeczpospolita. When asked what the next step for Cyberpunk and the Witcher are, he mentioned that both franchises will embark on their next steps in 2022. According to him, CD Projekt Red is aiming for parallel development.

Apparently, this simultaneous production is less of a reason for worry, but more of a good thing: It is a very deliberate decision by CDPR, since it allows them to share assets between the two games. For example, NPC systems or AI might share the same foundation across Cyberpunk and The Witcher.

Now, of course, a lot of you will have their alarm bells going off, since Cyperpunk 2077 wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time, and its bugs... well, they might have just been some of the greatest bugs of all time. Not the award the game wanted, but certainly the award it deserved. We can't do much to dispel these worries, but, for now, we're deciding to be happy that The Witcher 4 is real, and choose to worry about this supposed dual-development later.
