World of Warcraft Shadowlands has been out for a few weeks now and has captured the hearts of the MMO long-running fans. Now Activision Blizzard has announced what a huge success the latest expansion is!
Looting, leveling, raiding, questing... The WoW community has been enjoying what the MMO titan has to offer for 16 years now. This also applies to the latest expansion: World of Warcraft Shadowlands. The latest chapter in the never-ending WoW story has been out for a few weeks now and enjoys a lot of love and attention. Now the publisher Activision came into the public and revealed in a press release how successful Shadowlands has been so far. Spoiler: VERY!
As Activision has announced in an official statement, WoW Shadowlands is "the fastest-selling PC game of all time industry-wide." In plain English, this means: Shadowlands has broken the previous record for the most copies sold on the day of release!
The previous record was set by Diablo 3 with 3.5 million games sold. This mark was easily beaten by WoW Shadowlands with 3.7 million copies sold in a day. In the same statement, Activision Blizzard announced that this year there were more players in Azeroth than ever before and that in-game playtime was twice as high as in 2019. They have not released official figures on these facts, but considering how huge WoW is, they must be astronomically high.
These figures clearly show that World of Warcraft is still very popular and works well - especially in times of coronavirus lockdowns. This is definitely good news for Activision Blizzard and all players who still like to loot and level up in Azeroth.
