WoW SoD Priest Guide: How To Get A Second Meditation Buff

If you play WoW Season of Discovery and you chose Priest as a class, you might get confused by the meditation buff system, especially about how to get a second meditation buff, which is needed to learn specific runes. Here's what you have to do.

WoW Season of Discovery adds some exciting new features and mechanics to the classic WoW experience, but not all of them are super easy to understand in the first place. As Priest, you will eventually learn how to get a meditation buff, which is needed to learn certain runes. Later in the game, you will find runes that need a second active meditation buff to be able to learn them – and this is where it becomes a little tricky.

But don't worry – getting the second buff and keeping it is much easier than you might have expected. We'll guide you through the process.

WoW Season of Discovery: How To Get Two Meditation Buffs As Priest

The first meditation buff you get is race specific, and you can get it without help of another player. As a night elf, for example, you'll get the "Meditation on Elune" buff by just kneeling at a moonwell.

To get an additional meditation buff, you need to find another Priest of any other allied race – but he must not play the same race as you (so if you're playing night elf, look for either a Human or a Dwarf Priest). Once you found one, kneel down by typing /kneel into the chat bar while having the other player in target. Once you're kneeled, the other priest now has to /pray on you. You should now get the second meditation buff.

Tip

According to the chat messages we got in-game, a lot of SoD Priest players assume that you need to be in a "sacred place" like the Stormwind Cathedral for this ritual. Fact is, you can do this everywhere.

Once that is done, do it the other way around and /pray on the Priest that just helped you while he kneels. Though this step is not mandatory for you to get the second meditation buff, we recommend doing this in return as an act of gratefulness – don't forget you're playing an MMORPG that is based on teamwork, so there is no reason to encourage toxic behavior.

The buff will last 4 hours and even persist through death, so once you got it, you got a lot of time to focus on other stuff. And that's it!

Ever since he got his first Game Boy in the late 90s, Kim was into video games. Besides many other games, he has a fable for Zelda and a love-hate relationship to World of Warcraft. Apart from work, you will find him playing football, watching sci-fi-shows, enjoying video games or just hanging around with friends....
