After being hit by a massive layoff as part of ongoing job cuts across PlayStation, Destiny 2 The Final Shape expansion has been hit by a delay. More Bungie games will likely be affected as well.
After Bungie announced the layoff of several high-level positions due to the cuts across PlayStation, it's not surprising that numerous games are now being delayed as well. Among the games that got hit by a delay are the next Destiny 2 expansion "The Final Shape" but also the new IP "Marathon".
As Bloomberg reported, the new release date of Destiny 2 The Final Shape is June 4, 2024 and for Marathon the company aims for a release in 2025. Funny enough, there wasn't an official release window for the new IP beforehand - well, we get at least something positive of this situation, right?

Destiny 2 The Final Shape: The End Of An Era
With The Final Shape, Bungie wants to conclude the Light vs. Darkness saga that already began in Destiny 1. The curtain of the main story will conclude at long last and the devs will switch from a seasonal update cycle, which gave us a three-month content system, to an episodic one.
The new model will run for four months, instead of three, and feature story acts instead of seasonal quest lines. Allowing you to choose when to play each episode and not be stressed by the seasonal cycle, giving also new players a way to get into the game as well.
