Sony's CES 2024 press conference has revealed the status of the planned God of War and Horizon shows – and we are disappointed.
Sony's CES 2024 press conference brought exciting news, including the announcement of a Gravity Rush movie and updates on the TV adaptations of their hit video games, God of War and Horizon.
God of War will be coming to Amazon Prime Video, while Horizon Zero Dawn will find its way to Netflix. However, it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to enjoy these shows.
New Sony TV Shows: God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn Are "Underway"
Katherin Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, announced that they have “writing underway” for both new IP projects. Although it's great news that production has started, it's likely that the releases won't be until late 2025 or beyond.
GoW and Horizon are certainly highly anticipated and very good choices for game-to-screen adaptations. Before them, Uncharted and Gran Turismo got their own movies for example – and The Last of Us is almost a classic TV show by now – there is more to come besides the second season of TLoU.
We eagerly await these shows' arrivals on our streaming platforms, hoping they might surprise us with an earlier release. To catch up on the CES announcement, you can rewatch it here. For a quick view of Pope discussing Sony's future plans, skip to minute 12:55.
