Recent leaks have revealed, that the original Little Nightmares might get an enhanced edition soon. The game appeared with a rating on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), meaning that it could be revealed very soon.

Little Nightmares II received an enhanced version for next gen consoles back in 2021. It gave players access to to a Performance mode and a Quality mode to adjust the experience when playing on current-gen consoles.

Now, the original Little Nightmares title seems to get a similar edition, after it appeared in a list of ESRB rated games for current-generation platforms. Because of that, we assume that the title might get an announcement soon.

While the specific release date is yet to be unveiled, the game is expected to release in the near future. With Little Nightmares 3 set to release this year as well, it's likely that the enhanced edition of Little Nightmares 1 will come in 2024 as well, before the new game releases.

Enhanced Edition Features

Developed by Supermassive Games, the new-generation version of Little Nightmares 2 included several enhancements compared to the original title.

  • A Performance mode that will put the game in 2160p and 60 fps
  • A Quality mode that will set the game’s resolution up to 4K and 30 fps

Besides that, it also enhanced the overall technical quality of the game a lot by adding ray-traced reflections, volumetric shadows, interactive particles and immersive audio.

We expect Little Nightmares I to get similar improvements in the enhanced edition. And since the original game is even more "outdated" than the second part, there might even be more improvements to bring the quality to a current-gen level.
