The LEC has kicked off this weekend with exciting matches. But Spanish streamer Ibai had something else to add as well, igniting drama on Twitter/X.
Ibai is one of the most well-known steamers on the internet and has had a hand in esports for quite some time now with his organization – KOI. In 2024 the team is once again represented in the LEC, alongside the MAD Lions name, a team known for their success throughout the last few years.
KCorp, a well-known French org, has also joined the LEC in 2024 which has led to quite the rivalry between Spanish and French fans in the LEC. This rivalry has only been fueled by Ibai and some comments he made online.
LoL: Ibai Goes After KCorp Coach

Karmine Corp is being coached by none other than Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi, who has been a part of the LEC and professional League of Legends scene for a long time already. He's coached Fnatic, Team Vitality and even SANDBOX Gaming in the LCK before.
Going into the match on Monday, with MAD Lions KOI looking to take on KCorp to finish off the first week of the LEC Winter split, content creator and former LEC pro Caedrel sent out an innocent tweet hyping up the rivalry between the KCorp and MADKOI fans.
This prompted KCorp coach YamatoCannon to state that KOI had been a part of the LEC last year already, which set Ibai off on a rant, stating that the team was in the LEC and had a huge success domestically and in terms of viewership.
Yes, we were in the LEC. Our costream usually had more than 100k viewers on average. I imagine you realized at some point, we were always in the top 1 on Twitch. Or maybe you were too busy trying to trick another team into signing you?
So we're going to pretend that this is okay because we have to be scared of Spanish fans and because Ibai is the biggest streamer on earth. Nah fuck that, this is a ridiculously disrespectful response. Koi has accomplished nothing in their time in LEC to be talking down to... https://t.co/fzsGfny0jb

He added on that he believes YamatoCannon "tricked" KCorp into hiring him. This final comment has caused quite a stir within the community, with other content creators calling him out for his comments. Streamer Christian “IWD” Rivera clapped back at Ibai with his own opinion on the matter, stating that KOI "has accomplished nothing in their time in the LEC".
So, who is in the wrong here? YamatoCannon for his comments about KOI or Ibai for insinuating things? Overall, it's just Twitter drama and while it might just be that, it helped fuel the fire of the new LEC rivalry between Mad Lions KOI and Karmine Corp.
