Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng is probably the most well-known League of Legends player from NA and while he take a brief break from pro-play, he's once again announced his retirement.
League of Legends veteran and pro-trash talker Doublelift has announced that he will be retiring from professional play. This is not the first time the ADC has made such an announcement, but this time it feels like it is far more genuine and from the heart.
So, now it seems like we really will not be seeing Doublelift in the LCS or at an international event on stage again. But what does his future hold for him now?
LoL: Doublelift Announces Retirement
In a 15-minute YouTube video, Doublelift goes into detail about his retirement, expanding on the reasons and thought processes. He also clarified that his first retirement was always just a 'hiatus' while his second retirement, after season 10, felt more forced than something he actually wanted to do.
Therefore, now with the current situation that the LCS finds itself in, cutting budgets, not only for players, but also support staff behind-the scenes, Doublelift does not believe that the LCS will be able to compete with other teams and regions.
So, while he does think he's achieved everything he can – other than a Worlds title, he thinks this is the best time to retire from the professional League of Legends scene.
Doublelift's Future
In the second-half of the video, Doublelift reveals that he will be turning to full-time content creation, meaning he will be streaming and building his community, outlining how he's got passion for the game itself, as well as the community surrounding League, which is something he wants to foster.
He will be streaming League of Legends, as well as have watch-parties of LCS and international games. So you can look forward to Doublelift the content creator with various creative outlets for him.
Throughout his career Doublelift has accomplished so much, winning multiple LCS titles on multiple organizations, cementing himself as one of the best ADC players in the region, so now he will be able to fully grow his community further as a content creator. We wish Doublelift all the best in his future endeavors and remember... everyone else is trash.
