Enshrouded is coming out on January 24, 2024, and the fact that it is among the most wishlisted games on Steam shows how excited people are. One of its many selling points is the large world, full of unique Points of Interest (POIs), different biomes and tons of variety.

In a new video, developers Keen Games showed off how they have created this map, further enticing players to explore this beautiful world.

Enshrouded Devs Show Off How The Map Was Created

In the video, you see the game’s Art Director showing off certain development tools and how easily they allow for impressive and exciting environments to be created. I’m not gonna go into the technical nitty-gritty, which I definitely understand very well, but because the game’s environments are Voxel-based, objects can very easily be meshed together. This means that cool, interesting buildings, natural structures and so on can be created very quickly to great effect.

Here, you can also see how a POI is created and filled out. The devs emphasize that a hand-crafted approach is mixed with procedural generation, an efficient procedure which allows the team to quickly create exciting environments and POIs.

Considering how quickly the cool-looking environment in the game is created, it suggests that Enshrouded’s huge world could be filled to the brim with fascinating spaces to explore. We’re excited to see if that will actually be the case on January 24, when the game launches on Steam Early Access.
