The new Cinematic has just been revealed for LoL Season 14, and it's everything we've ever wanted it to be, with three main stories being told and while some parts might have left you confused, it all makes sense.
Riot has started LoL Season 14 off on the right foot, with a spectacular cinematic, much like the League of Legends community anticipated. Some pretty popular champions made an appearance in their usual forms, but others... they look different from what we're used to.
This cinematic is as strong as 2022's The Call which managed to leave the community breathless. This cinematic has a similar pacing, with three stories being told, only this time we get to experience the past, present and possible future of our favorite champions.
LoL Season 14 Cinematic: The Past, Present And Future
League of Legends is turning 15-years old this year, and Riot is going to go all-in. The game has lasted this long thanks to the community, which is why the cinematic feels all the more personal with some of the older champions making an appearance.
The fact that it was announced that cinematics like this one are part of the canon lore in League of Legends makes the storytelling all the more memorable, instead of just 'champions fight one another' like previous cinematics might have been.
In this cinematic, we get to see a glimpse of a time when Morgana and Kayle were still together and fighting side by side – against Aatrox – before they became estranged from one another. In the game, we can only get to experience this former relationship through quotes and written lore, but the cinematic gives players the true feeling that yes, these two are actually sisters.
Another key scene is a possible future in which we see a gray and old looking Yasuo. It seems that in this future the sword fighter has given up the blade, but when a village is being pillaged he picks it up again to protect the defenceless.
Finally, the main centerpiece of the story, the present, shows us Tryndamere on the brink of death as he is fighting against none other than Kindred. This is probably the scene and part of the cinematic which is the most gripping due to the juxtaposition of Lamb and Wolf. In the end, though, Tryndamere manages to survive, getting saved by none other than Ashe.
Community Reaction
Season 2024 Cinematic by u/PleutreLoL in leagueoflegends
The community reaction to this trailer has been very positive, with most loving how Tryndamere comes out of his undying rage, only to see Ashe before him instead of Kindred, managing to beat death. The inclusion of Aatrox, as well as Morgana and Kayle was also well-received.
Most people were a bit confused about Yasuo being so old, but the description of the video gives all the answers one needs. Past, present, and possible futures—we remember them all.
