Mid laners rejoice! Riot is going to be adding some major buffs to mages in LoL Patch 13.22. How powerful will you be in the upcoming League of Legends patch though?
League of Legends fans rejoice! After years of assassin meta, it's time for mages to truly shine once more. Sure, Syndra, Orianna and Cassiopeia have been great picks recently, but they're all about to get even better and dominate the meta once more.
In LoL Patch 13.22, Riot will be making key changes to attack speed on mages, meaning they will not be as reliant on specific attack speed runes anymore. So, what do these changes mean on the mid lane?
LoL Patch 13.22: Mages Will Gain Attack Speed Buffs
13.22 Preview! Mage Attack Speed: For a while now, mages have been taking Attack Speed rune shard. While this is great that players love pushing/harassing, it is more indicative of mages' slow attack frames that have become pretty outdated over time and are an unnecessary... pic.twitter.com/gTlZu8HzmQ

Mages might just be a little broken after Patch 13.22 goes live. Why? Because of the attack speed buffs that Riot Phroxzon has announced on Twitter.
Sure, he also explained that some mages, like Cassiopeia or Karthus won't be buffed as heavily as others, but overall the whole mage class is getting adjusted to receive more attack speed, meaning they won't be as reliant on attack speed runes anymore.
These changes will have an effect all over the map, with Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison, Lead Gameplay Designer, stating that the balance team is going to keep an eye on the top lane as well with these buffs, since they don't want the whole map to be exclusively filled with mages.
We need to be careful about buffing ranged too much in the early game, especially against melee (and especially if they play top). If it ends up being quite a lot of power, we'll put back in that area.
The balance team will likely try to keep top lane mages to a minimum, with some sneaking in to games every now and again, but the balance team probably doesn't want that to become the norm in the top lane either.
It'll be interesting to see just how far the team will take these buffs and which champions are going to gain the most. Maybe we will have a Ryze resurgence on Summoner's Rift?
