Video Game Insights (VGI) has unveiled its 2024 Global PC Games Market Report, showcasing the top-selling games on Steam in 2023.

VGI, a renowned industry research and analysis firm, is highly trusted for its comprehensive data collection, rigorous methodology, and established credibility in tracking gaming industry trends.

Baldur's Gate 3 emerges as the standout performer, generating more than second-place Hogwarts Legacy and third-place Starfield combined.

Baldur's Gate 3 Dominates Steam Sales With Incredible Revenue

As you can see in the chart from VGI, 2023 was a good year for role-playing games (RPGs).

With a total of $657 million in revenue on Steam, BG3 surpasses Hogwarts Legacy and Starfield combined, which earned $341 million and $235 million, respectively.

This achievement underscores the remarkable success of Baldur's Gate 3, as even an established IP like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has lagged far behind in comparison.

Additionally, the report sheds light on Starfield's third-place ranking being quite impressive, considering its initial challenges with a day-one Xbox Game Pass release and mixed reception upon launch.

And despite BG3's dominance, it's worth noting that the game's fanbase is primarily PC-based, while other titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, Resident Evil, and EA FC 24 have a strong console presence.
