After years of hype and empty promises, The Day Before is finally here. Surprise: it sucks and is a scam.
Remember when The Day Before was announced? It looked like The Last of Us meets The Division, The Last of Us turned into a Survival RPG, or any other dream-like combination of beloved things that people have been desiring their whole lives. It seemed to good to be true, and that worry was present during every announcement regarding the game. Something about this just never seemed right.
But hey, it’s actually out now and you can buy it for $38,99 on Steam. Somehow, the hype has sustained itself and The Day Before saw over 400K viewers on Twitch on release and a whopping 12.000 user reviews the day after. However, 87% of these reviews are negative, and apparently for good reason.
The Day Before Is Even Worse Than Expected
First of all: For the love of God, please don’t buy this game. Yeah, it sucks. Quelle surprise. But it somehow seems to be more broken and even more of a scam than even its most cynical naysayers have been predicting since its announcement. The Steam reviews paint an ugly picture: crashes, bugs, falls promises (the game is not actually an MMO or open world game, as has been advertised since the announcement). Looking through the user reviews, you’ll quickly find people calling this game a scam.
Journalist Nick Calandra of Second Wind perfectly summarized this mess on Twitter. First, he realized that developer FNTASTIC has removed a ton of old material, showing off “the fake ‘The Day Before’”, as he calls it. Indeed, the game we got now is almost impressive in how much worse it is than what we saw in those trailers.
Ahahaha. Not FNTASTIC completely scrubbing their channel to hide any evidence of the fake 'The Day Before' game they marketed.Left is today. Right is from earlier this year.Have zero problem describing this as a full-blown scam now. pic.twitter.com/kdX6tyBxQU

He also gives a good short review on the game and explains why no one should buy it.
I'm usually pretty lenient, but that is nothing but a cash grab. There's no gameplay loop, clear AI generated art around the city to fill billboards, no animations to speak of for the zombies, absolutely no mission design to speak of.Nothing.
So, yeah… The Day Before sucks and is a scam. A lot of people have said this for years, and still people got hyped from seeing bullshots and fake trailers, buying this rotten product on day one. Good thing then, that Steam’s refund policy is pretty lenient, eh?
