A new small-town mystery is coming to Netflix: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. We've got all the info you need for the upcoming show, including the release window, the fantastic cast, some plot details so you'll know what you get yourself into and any other news you could possibly need.
From one messed up school to the other, it seems: Emma Myers, probably best known for her role as Enid Sinclair in Wednesday, finds herself in another murder mystery in her school.
Netflix shared some info about the upcoming show now, and we've got it all for you at just a glance.
What Is A Good Girl's Guide To Murder About?
The show is based on the young adult mystery novel by Holly Jackson which, to the surprise of no one, has the same name: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder . What started out as the debut for the author ended up as a beloved series with three novels to its name (which you can get for not even 20 bucks right here – that's a steal.)
The story follows Pip Fitz-Amobi and the repercussions of her decision to re-open the case of Andie Bell's murder. Five years prior, she was supposedly killed by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who committed suicide afterwards. That's the official story, at least, but Pip isn't convinced of his guilt.
Piece by piece, she uncovers the disturbing truth behind the case and finds herself in danger – and all of that started as a senior project for school, to make matters worse. The original novels received multiple awards and the showrunners seem to take the source material for what it is and plan to follow the plot closely. That's good news for everyone who already read the books and for those set to experience the story for the first time on TV screens – it's a good one, for sure!
When Does A Good Girl's Guide To Murder Release?
The show has been announced to release in 2024 and is currently in the post-production process. There is no official release date to share just yet, but a fall release makes sense to us.
As Netflix actually isn't helming the production process, the debut of the show will be on BBC in the UK and Ireland and not on the streaming service. The release on Netflix shouldn't be too long after that, though.
The season will have six episodes and will probably tell the complete story of the first novel of the series – chances are, if the show finds success, there's a multiple-season show waiting for us! Author Holly Jackson can't wait herself, telling Netflix that she is "beyond excited":
Viewers can expect laugh-out-loud moments from all the teenage antics, but also all the pulse-pounding twists you’d find in the darkest of thrillers. Heartbreak, tears, gasps, swooning at all the PipRavi moments brought to life, watching behind a cushion, cursing my name… be prepared for it all when A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder hits your screens later this year.
The Cast Of A Good Girl's Guide To Murder
First things first: of course, we've got the wonderful Emma Myers as Pip Fitz-Amobi, our main character and hobby detective. She'll be joined by Zain Iqbal to bring the "PipRavi" moments to life Holly Jackson is already so excited for. Ravi, for his part, is Sal Singh's younger brother and is happy to help Pip uncover the truth behind the murder to clear his brother's name.
The cast also includes a whole lot of upcoming talents to bring the world of the small-town Little Kilton to life, including: Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill and a bunch more.
As soon as we have a trailer or further news to share, you can be sure we'll update you on the matter!
