Asmongold : Twitch Killed Their Own Website
Over a period of nearly 25 minutes, Asmongold explained his views on the new Twitch Guidelines and calls for other streamers, to boycott Twitch. But which points enraged the streamer so much?
Some points of the new Twitch Guidelines, involving new restrictions on branded and burned in advertisements. This regards the promotion of illegal substances, scams, some gambling-sites or hateful products and services. But these were not the points, that Asmongold criticized.
Due to the new restrictions, the following products are no longer allowed to be advertised in branded Twitch-Streams:
- Weapons, such as firearms, explosives, and related content
- Adult-oriented products or services, such as pornography, sexual content, or male enhancement products
- Tobacco and tobacco related content, such as cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape-pens, and chewing tobacco
- Certain financial products and services, such as Initial Coin Offerings, multilevel marketing and get rich quick schemes
- Medical facillities and products, such as prescription drugs, medical trials, pharmacies and drug treatment centers
- Political Content, including paid promotion of politicians, political parties
- Cannabis-related products, including vaping and delivery
Especially the restriction of advertisements for drug treatment facilities and political content were criticized by Asmongold.
I woke up at the exact moment, that Twitch decided to kill their own website.
I don't say it lightly but I think this is a legitimate situation where streamers should consider boycotting Twitch or moving to other platformsMaking common and harmless forms of advertisement literally against ToS so Twitch can monopolize more of streamers income https://t.co/LgofvJKnWo
