One pick has been dominating the League of Legends landscape right now and Riot has had enough, adding some more nerfs to the champion, in hopes of reeling it in before it dominates MSI 2023.
Sometimes, Riot has champions that will just dominate any League of Legends meta. This is especially true for pro play where only a small percentage of champions from the 160 are viable. Recently, one champion has made his name known amongst all elos in League.
Ahead of the 2023 Mid-Season invitational, Riot is nerfing some champions that have been too strong. Since League of Legends Patch 13.8 is the MSI patch we're excited to see that Jarvan IV is on the list of nerfs.
League of Legends Patch 13.8: Jarvan IV Nerfed After Dominating Jungle
For anyone looking to play the best champion in the jungle, look no further than Jarvan IV. Earlier in LoL Season 13 he received a few buffs, but those have catapulted him to the top tier.
With Riot hard nerfing other meta junglers like Wukong, Vi, Olaf and Lee Sin in LoL Patch 13.7, it was time for Jarvan to shine, but he has been a bit too oppressive and Riot doesn't want him to single-handedly own the jungle meta during the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational.
Jarvan IV currently sits at a 53% win rate, with a pick rate of 15% in the jungle. He is a strong mid-game champion who can look for fights early thanks to his mobility.

Due to his versatile kit he can be anything the team needs. Now, he did gain some buffs in LoL Patch 13.3 to his W, Golden Aegis, wherein his shield strength was improved thanks to it scaling with bonus AD.
The nerfs from Patch 13.4 were rather negligent and Jarvan continued to be a dominant pick. Fast-forward to the current jungle meta and he has become a true menace, since he has no more competition. All other strong junglers were nerfed, meaning it was his time to shine.
Now in LoL Patch 13.8, Riot is going to be nerfing him once more with a nerf to his base AD growth, as well as his Q, Dragon Strike, also getting it's damage nerfed.
Hopefully this will even things out a little in the jungle, without Jarvan constantly having to be perma-banned.
