JD Gaming, the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational Champions, as well as the LPL Spring 2023 champions are the first team to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship in South Korea this year.
Ahead of the 2023 season JDG upgraded their already stacked roster with former Gen.G bot laner and 2017 World Champion Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk, as well as mid laner Zhuo "knight" Ding.
This team has looked unbeatable and even though they were only second in the LPL regular Summer Split, the team has made a successful run through the LPL playoffs to reach the finals once more.
This entry into the final match also secures them a spot at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship. They will have to face off either against BiliBili Gaming (again) or LNG who will be playing in the lower bracket finals on August 1, 2023.
The LPL Finals are set to take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Then a regional finals will take place between the third place squad, Edward Gaming, Weibo Gaming and Top Esports to find out who the final two LPL teams at Worlds will be.
