League of Legends is a pretty old game and some champions are already over 10-years-old with little to no change. Therefore, to keep the game modern, some key things will be adjusted in the coming months by Riot.
League of Legends is a pretty old game with some outdated art and champions. But as the years go on, more and more changes are being added to the game. Art and Sustainability updates are some of the key changes and while not every champion will be able to get one right away, there are smaller changes Riot is working on to improve gamplay.
In the most recent dev blog, Riot Meddler reveals one of the key changes that is being worked on for multiple champions and what the future of ability icons holds in League of Legends.
LoL: Champion Ability Icons To Get Updated
Some League of Legends champions have been around for what feels like forever. The art of these icons also has not changed in a very long time, dating back to 2011 or even 2010 when the first champions were released. Since then, a lot has improved, especially in terms of visibility for color-blind people and other people with disabilities.
So, Riot is going to be updating the ability icon of some of our favorite League of Legends champions to bring the icons into the 2020s and have them look more modern.
In the dev update, Riot Meddler reveals the first batch of champions that are going to receive updated ability icons in the month of August.

These will be shipped in August, while other champions are to follow in the next champion updates throughout 2023. While this is a small change, it is an important one and is great for the game to modernize it.
Riot have updated older splash arts as well in recent times, like the one for Sivir, as well as for Rugged Garen, so let's see what else they'll modernize or who is next on their list.
