Riot brought back an old item in 2023, which has prompted many of the players to hope for some other removed items to make a comeback in 2024, especially with the removal of mythic skins.
League of Legends is a pretty old game by now, having been released all the way back in 2009. Since then there have been quite a few items that were added and then removed from the game, but some items still live rent-free in players' minds.
In 2023 one of those beloved items returned to the rift with Statikk Shiv, but now there are some other items players hope to make a comeback in 2024, especially with the item changes Riot has planned for the upcoming LoL Preseason.
LoL: Players Hope For Return Of Top Lane Item
Statikk Shiv was brought back in 2023 when Riot reworked their items in the League of Legends mid-season update. Some items were changed from mythic to legendary and vice versa, with Riot also bringing back this bot lane item.
Now some players have wishes to bring back a few other items to the game. One of those is for the top lane item Frozen Mallet. The item hasn't been in the game since Season 10, having been removed in LoL Patch 10.23 – but Riot can't remove this Faker Edition Razer Gaming Mouse .
Why was it removed in the first place though? The item gave 700 Health and 30 AD, but that wasn't what made it so OP. Instead, it was the passive which slowed targets on-hit for 1.5 seconds, refreshing this passive with every hit.
With ranged champions abusing this item it was deemed too powerful and removed from the game, but with League of Legends having evolved quite a bit since Season 10, some players believe that Riot is able to change the passive in a way that ranged champs like Vayne or Gnar won't abuse the passive.
Others believe that even in the current state of League the item would be a problem, since it will have the biggest effect against other immobile melee champions, instead of mobile squishy champions.

Some people also think that champions like Yone could completely break the item, especially when they add in items like Hullbreaker, which could mean that the champion is basically unkillable due to the insane amounts of sustain he's already got built into his kit.
For now, we only know that Riot is going to be removing mythic items and changing up the system, but there has not been any news on returning items... though Banner of Command in 2024 could be fun, no?
