There is an interesting new feaute on the LoL PBE for Patch 13.9. Will this new feature truly help with combatting the rampant toxicity in League of Legends though?
Riot Games promised some new features that will be implemented throughout the 2023 League of Legends season to try and combat the rampant toxicity which has plagued the game for a long time. Player reports, as well as a system detecting chat are the key features which try to stop players from becoming too toxic, but now they've added another feature.
Currently, on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) is a new feature which will hopefully help players stay safe and get to enjoy League without the constant droll of someone troll in their chat.
LoL Patch 13.9 Introduces New In-Game Feature
In the upcoming League of Legends patch, players will be able to report toxic players on the spot. You won't have to wait until after the game to be able to report them, but you can do it during a game, right away.

While Riot has recently added in the option to report players from their game history, as well as instantly muting toxic players and chat-banning them, the feature to report someone right away within the game has not been made available yet. It was something that Riot had promised to do at the start of the year though.
Now, it seems that the feature is finally going live with LoL Patch 13.9, so you won't ever have to report someone toxic again in the post-game lobby, if you just want to exit as quickly as possible if someone was toxic.

How To Report A Player In-Game
This is pretty simple. We're all aware of the reporting screen, since pretty much every League of Legends player has reported someone at least once in their lifetime, right? Well, the interface of the report looks the exact same as in the post-game lobby and gives players the same option.
You simply have to follow these steps to be able to report someone in your game.
- Press Tab
- Look For player you want to report
- Press on exclamation point in their row
- Choose Reason for reporting
- Press Submit
It's idiot-proof and easy to do, so if you've got a leaver, or someone spouting hate speech in your team, or even on the enemy team, then you can report them right away.
Currently, on the PBE, players are able to select every single option in the report box, something which is not available in the post-game report, but this could likely still be changed before this goes live.
Players can also take their reports back until the end of the game, just in case a bad-beahving player gets over their childish tantrum and starts to play normally, or if someone returns from being AFK due to network issues or something along those lines. Once the game ends though, the reports will be sent to Riot and are finalized.
