The 2021 LCS off-season is heating up with rumors and speculations. Which player is going where? Which team will pick up Bjergsen ahead of the 2022 season? Well, more theories have arisen this time surrounding Team Liquid’s mid laner Jensen.

In a recent stream, the 26-year-old stated that there is a possibility that he won’t be playing next year. This comes after Team Liquid failed to make it out of groups at the 2021 World Championship after losing in tie-breakers.

Why Might Jensen Not Return in 2022?

According to Travis Gafford, Team Liquid has their eyes set on a different mid laner for the 2022 season. According to sources, Team Liquid is looking to pick up longtime TSM mid laner Bjergsen before the start of the season.

Gafford also explained that Rogue ADC Hans Sama and Fnatic jungler and top laner Bwipo would be joining the team to complete the roster alongside CoreJJ – who is set to become an NA resident – and Santorin.

That would make this the projected lineup for Team Liquid in 2022:

  • Top Lane: Bwipo
  • Jungle: Santorin
  • Mid Lane: Bjergsen
  • ADC: Hans Sama
  • Support: CoreJJ

Is Team Liquid Selling Jensen?

Jensen, who has been with Team Liquid since 2018, signed a contract extension in 2020, spanning three years. The contract is rumored to be worth $4.2 million. It seems like his buyout is still pretty high and many teams might not want to take the risk.

Throughout his career on Cloud9 and Team Liquid, Jensen has shown great resilience and play, earning over 1,000 kills and multiple LCS titles. He’s also helped get the two NA orgs to numerous World Championships.

Even his tenure as an LCS pro seems to keep Team Liquid from finding a team willing to pay for his buyout. Therefore, he might end up as a pricey substitute, or even an Academy player, unless Team Liquid finds a buyer for him.

The LCS and LEC off-season is set to really start on November 15, 2021, when most contracts expire. Let’s see whether these rumors become a reality then.
