We saw few surprises in the Friday LEC games as the favorites won their matches. Rogue remain undefeated after a swift win versus Excel, while Fnatic bounced back from a very poor week 3 with a win against MAD Lions.
We are nearing the halfway mark of the LEC spring split and by now, we have come to expect where the teams rank up. Of course, there are a few surprises - such as Team Vitality's poor start or Rogue's yet-undefeated streak - but on Friday, the top three teams had a chance to extend their lead from the rest of the group and they took full advantage.
Sertuss Shock(wave)s Astralis
Astralis struck first blood against SK Gaming and slowly amassed a gold lead. However, as the game went on SK punished them with several catches. Yet the game was still not in their favor 26 minutes in when a huge shockwave by Daniel "Sertuss" Gamani’s Orianna cleaned house. SK got the Baron and took over the game. They eventually secured the ocean soul, got another ace and ended the game.
Another Day, Another Rogue Win
Excel Esports faced the yet-undefeated Rogue in the second game. The favorites had a strong first ten minutes, taking first blood and a 3K gold lead. Excel were able to hang in the game and keep the deficit from growing until they were aced near the dragon 19 minutes in after a disjointed engage. Rogue took over, took the Baron and ended the game less than four minutes later.
Vitality Rises to 4-4
Misfits Gaming took it to Team Vitality from the opening minutes, securing the first blood and getting Matúš "Neon" Jakubčík’s Jinx two kills in the first seven mintes. Even with Vitality’s laners securing a small gold lead for the team, Misfits were looking quite competitive until a huge Diana-Yasuo combo demolished them in a teamfight 18 minutes in. The game quickly spun out of control and even a heroic defense 25 minutes in where Misfits got an ace only shortly delayed Vitality’s fourth victory for the season.
Broken Blade Is Broken on Jayce
The next game featured Team BDS going against G2 Esports. Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik took two quick kills in the top lane and his team maintained a lead throughout the early game. The newcomers to the LEC slowed the game down, but eventually G2’s pressure was too much to bear. BDS kept contesting objectives and kept coming up short, until eventually their Nexus lay in ruins.
Fnatic Bounces Back
Fans weren’t too sure about Fnatic after they went 0-2 last week, but against MAD Lions they were off to a flying start. At ten minutes, the team was leading 5-1 in kills, with three of them going to Elias "Upset” Lipp’s Aphelios. The Lions tried to fight back but Fnatic stayed on the front foot. This advantage was clutch 31 minutes in when Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla’s Gwen nearly cleaned house but his former teammate Marek "Humanoid" Brázda put an end to his rampage. Three to one, Fnatic pushed in the MAD base to secure the win
