The 2023 League of Legends season is just around the corner. With each new LoL Season we also get a fun new lore cinematic taking us through a few specific regions in Runeterra. Last year we got transported to the Freljord, Targon and even the Void made an appearance.

Who could we see this year in the LoL Season 13 cinematic trailer? Well, let's go over what we know and make some deductions from there.

Regions Likely in the LoL Season 13 Cinematic Trailer

As already mentioned, last year we had three different regions feature in the cinematic trailer. These trailers often also depict epic battles. We also know that Riot doesn't usually repeat the same regions twice, so we could technically ride off the Freljord, Targon and the Void for the 2023 cinematic.

With the 2021 Rise of Sentinels event Riot also hasn't really visited the Shadow Isles, Demacia or Ionia again due to these regions being the most affected by the Ruination. Does this mean we won't go back there either? Maybe.

Riot hasn't featured either Ixtal, nor Bandle City in any of their season trailers yet, which could mean that either of those places will be on the list of featured regions for the 2023 season cinematic. Honestly, some Bandle City fighting would be pretty cool.

Riot also recently released a new Aatrox-themed ward and well... last year they released an Ornn ward and he, albeit only passively, was a part of the Season 12 LoL cinematic. This could mean that we also get Shurima in the trailer.

Bilgewater also hasn't been featured in five-years in a season cinematic, so going back there could also be an option for Riot.

Champion Candidates for LoL Season 13 Cinematic Trailer

As just mentioned, we do think that Aatrox is going to be a part of the LoL Season 13 cinematic, but there have to be more champions, right? Well, who could we think of?

With the inclusion of Ixtal, there are only a few champions we could see. Qiyana is probably the most well-known champion from the region and with Riot releasing a new support from there it is likely we will have an Ixtali champ in there.

Rengar vs. Kha'Zix would have for an epic fight, but will Riot feature the Vastaya and the Void creature, or are they going to go the route of the human/humanoid champs and add in Qiyana or Zyra instead? Hell, maybe we get a sneak peek at the new support champion.

In Legends of Runeterra, we just recently had a multitude of new Darkin characters revealed and from the August Champion Roadmap we also know that a new Darkin champion will be coming to Summoner's Rift in 2023. A fight between Xolaani and Aatrox seems a bit far-fetched and wouldn't fit into the timeline so that seems unlikely, but we could feature some other Darkin, maybe?

If Riot does decide to include Bilgewater, then they could shine a light on Nilah, who was one of the most overlooked champion releases of 2022. Give her some attention and she might become a more popular champion, right? She's also known for her love of fighting which could make for an epic cinematic at the beginning of the season, right?

List of Potential Champions in LoL Season 13 Cinematic

So let's summarize which champions we could potentially see in the 2023 LoL Season cinematic trailer:

  • Aatrox
  • Qiyana
  • Rengar
  • Kha'Zix
  • Zyra
  • Nilah
  • Yordles

Ranking the LoL Champion Releases of 2022

Yordles would make for an amazing part of the trailer. Maybe some Teemo action or just Tristana blowing stuff up. There are multiple angles. The trailer should be released around January 11, which is also when LoL Patch 13.1 drops.
