This year is going to be great for video games. With so many amazing titles just around the corner it’s really difficult to cut the list. Here are our top picks for the most anticipated games slated for the coming year, in no particular order.
CYBERPUNK 2077
What more is there to really say, it has Keanu Reeves in it. CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is a futuristic sci-fi/fantasy game that focuses on body modifications, a rich story and with incredible cutscenes and much, much more. We here have high hopes for Cyberpunk 2077 due to The Witcher 3 being such an incredible success still to this date.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE
This remake is something that young me dreamed of for over a decade and now it’s finally happening. Square Enix is remaking the infamous Final Fantasy 7 and it’s set to release March 3, 2020 with, hopefully, no delays. This game will be an absolute treat for old fans of the Final Fantasy series and for newcomers, too.
DOOM ETERNAL
Blood, guts and more, oh my! Doom guy is back and more visceral than ever. While Doom Eternal was pushed back to 2020, we hope that extra time allows the game to be even more refined and gorier than ever. I’m personally excited to see this port to Nintendo Switch to see how Nintendo may take advantage of the motion controls and haptic feedback of the Switch.
METROID PRIME 4
It feels like we’ve waited a lifetime to hear anything Metroid related, but we needn’t wait anymore as Nintendo confirmed the games development way back in 2017. 2019, however, Nintendo handed over the project to its original developers Retro Studios which concerned many Metroid fans. Nintendo assured the fans that the game’s development is now in good hands and we hopeto see Metroid Prime 4 in 2020.
OVERWATCH 2
Blizzard has been announcing some pretty heaving hitting titles, that being Overwatch 2. Announced at BlizzCon 2019, Overwatch 2 will finally deliver on the long-awaited story mode fans have been asking for since Overwatch. With a focus on new maps, modes and more, Overwatch 2 will work in tandem with the original, allowing players to play together leaving no one behind.
THE LAST OF US PART II
The dynamic duo are back and even more grittier. Joel and Ellie continue their adventures in The Last Of Us Part II and boy are we excited. Naughty Dog teased us for three long years as we get down and dirty in the latest harrowing and intense installment that will be released 29 May 2020
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD 2
2019 was Nintendo giving fans what they want and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 is no joke here. The sequel to The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, this looks like a much more darker version that the original and whilst we don’t have a firm release date we’re expecting some big news this year 2020.
HALO INFINITE
The Master Chief returns once again in Halo Infinite to give us the next chapter in the Halo franchise. We’re expecting more details as we progress into 2020, but it’s safe to say Halo Infinite would release on Xbox’s next-gen console, much like the original Halo did with the Xbox 360 many years ago.
