It's no secret that Fortnite is currently working on an open world mode. Two new mechanics have been leaked that will reportedly feature in the new mode.
Fortnite has added several different game modes over the years. And some time ago, a new open world mode was also leaked! This mode is set to take place in various biomes such as grasslands, deserts, and jungles.
To give the mode a true open-world feeling, Epic is working on new mechanics. We’ll show you what these involve!
Fortnite "Mount" And "Swing" Mechanics Related To Open World Mode
Mounting
It will soon be possible in Fortnite to mount your weapon on a surface, which you might be familiar with from CoD. This makes sense in a game like CoD because the character doesn’t hold the weapon completely still by default. But in Fortnite, this wouldn't make much sense unless the mechanic was implemented into a new mode!
This was discovered by the Polish leaker ImPeQu, who has also found other leaks about the open world mode. When this feature will be released and how it will ultimately work is still unknown.

Swing
In line with the mentioned jungle biome, Epic is apparently working on a swing mechanic, like in Tomb Raider. Hypex has shared examples on X, formerly Twitter, showing how this mechanic could look like.
The image shows a character that is swinging with one hand, while holding a weapon ready to fire in the other one. Whether this swinging function involves vines or horizontal bars is currently unclear. However, the ability to shoot while swinging fits well with Fortnite's fast-paced gameplay.

This feature would definitely be an enrichment for the Battle Royale mode as well as the open world mode!
The release of the open world mode, and thus the release of both mechanics, is expected around Chapter 6. There's still a long way to go, so who knows what else Epic Games has in store!
