With the new Avatar Patch in Fortnite, Rocket Racing also receives its first major update! Rocket Racing Season 1 went live with Patch v29.20, introducing new tracks, skins, cars, and challenges to the racetrack. Additionally, the ranking system has been improved to reduce frustration, especially in higher ranks. We've summarized all the new features here.

Rocket Racing Season 1 Neon Rush: That's New

With the new season 1, there are several updates and adjustments. But we don't want to waste time and get started now:

New Tracks

The Neon Lights theme brings 5 new racetracks to Rocket Racing, 4 of which are set in cities at night. These tracks are not playable for all ranks, however. We've listed the new tracks and their respective ranks for you.

  • Jackrabbit: playable at Bronze rank
  • Tri-City: playable at Silver rank
  • Slap Happy: playable at Gold rank
  • Conduit: playable at Platinum rank
  • Delirium: playable at Diamond rank

Fortnite Matius: Fuse Starter Quest Pack

The new Fuse Starter Quest Pack will be available from April 12 in the Fortnite Item Shop. In this pack, you must complete tasks to unlock the cosmetic items. These include the Matius skin, which you can also use in Battle Royale, and a new car.

"Fuse" is the car for the new season and features pop-up headlights reminiscent of older Japanese cars. Additional customizations and a style for Matius are also included.

If you fail to complete the tasks, according to Epic Games, you will receive the items by June 25, 2025. It's unclear if this is a typo.

Rank Changes & Reset

With the new season, your rank in Rocket Racing will be reset for the first time. Those who had a higher rank last season will likely be reset to Gold or Silver instead of Bronze.

Epic Games has also announced that they have adjusted the rating system. Advancing should now be more pleasant, especially in advanced ranks. Additionally, the long waiting times in the highest ranks should be reduced by an adjusted player search. Like in Battle Royale, a protection for the first ranked round of the day is now visually displayed in the lobby.

New Cars

As mentioned, we see a new car in Rocket Racing with the Fuse. However, the Werewolf, a well-known car from Rocket League, is also making its way to Fortnite. Players who already own it in Fortnite do not need to purchase it again. Fuse should be playable in both Fortnite and Rocket League.

Speed Run

In Season 1 of Rocket Racing, you can now participate in time trials on the Ranked tracks. Setting a record time will place you at the top of the new Leaderboard.

Challenges

In Rocket Racing, you can complete missions to unlock the "Aetherius Wheels" and the "Psypher Trail." Both are available until the end of Neon Rush and come in various color styles.

UEFN Maps

While currently not possible, Epic Games has announced plans to incorporate player-built racetracks into the Ranked Playlist in the future. This aligns with the new UEFN Update, which has already produced several popular new tracks from the community.

Epic Games has also released a short trailer for the new season. Given the level of engagement, it's expected that Rocket Racing will continue to be developed over time, much like other Fortnite spin-offs Fortnite Festival and Fortnite Lego.

That covers all the official updates. According to some leakers, the new Avatar Promo may also bring some new content such as skins to Rocket Racing. We'll update you as soon as we know more. See you on the racetrack!
