In an already strong year for games, Baldur's Gate 3 was one of the biggest hits of 2023, demonstrating how freedom of play can work. The long time Larian Studios spent with the RPG in Early Access has also benefited the title. Now, with the announcement of the new update, the studio is ready for the next big step.

New Weapons, Armor, Classes And A Mullet For Lae'zel

The next major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 will also introduce an officially sanctioned toolkit for giving Lae’zel a mullet. I mean, sure, go for it. You only live once.

Larian Studios has announced that mod support will be added to Baldur's Gate 3 with the next major update. This will first be tested in a small, closed alpha with selected modders, which is set to begin immediately. In July, there will be a closed beta for 1000 players, for which you will be able to sign up.

In their official community update, Larian explained that with the official mod support you will be able to "add new weapons and armor, create new classes and subclasses, design new powerful spells, customise your game dice skins, and share your mods with a community of creators."

Mods will initially only be supported for the PC version, but support for Mac, Playstation and Xbox is also planned. There is already a timeline to that, Larian speaks of "shortly after the PC". Other content for Baldur's Gate 3's major update will include improvements to bad endings, bug fixes, and quality-of-life gameplay changes.
