Escape from Tarkov is in the spotlight due to a controversial update by Battlestate Games. The introduction of pay-to-win elements and high prices has led to heated discussions among players.
Escape from Tarkov, the hardcore survival shooter that has captivated players with its intense gameplay, is currently embroiled in a shitstorm like no other. The game's community, finds itself being betrayed by the developers, Battlestate Games, over recent controversial changes.
The uproar began with the introduction of the Unheard Edition, a hefty €250 package that promised a new PvE mode with cooperative play—a feature long requested by the community. However, the excitement quickly turned to frustration as players realized this new edition not only came with a steep price but also included pay-to-win elements, like decoys for example.
After facing insane backlash from the community, Battlestate did lower the price from €250 to €200... how generous. But what is even included to make the devs believe such a price tag was worth it?
Escape From Tarkovs Prices Are Not Justified
Long-time PMCs got especially mad. Battlestate Games had previously assured owners of the End of Darkness (EOD) edition—the game’s most expensive package until the Unheard Edition—that all future DLC's would be included free of charge. This promise helped justify the EOD's €150 price tag, making the new €200 price for the Unheard Edition a betrayal.
The backlash was harsh. Faced with a lot of criticism, Battlestate Games backpedaled, adjusting the pay-to-win elements, making the PvE mode free for EOD Players and other new "free" features in an attempt to satisfy Tarkov players. Funny enough, Nikita Buyanov, COO of Battlestate was suprised over the shitstorm.
