A recent The Sims 5 leak has revealed the use of a known anti-piracy software, which has been criticized by many players due to reports of frame drops and other performance issues it is said to cause.

The Sims 5 Leak Reveals Denuvo DRM In PC Build

A leaked early playtest of The Sims 5 has revealed the incorporation of Denuvo DRM, an anti-piracy measure disliked by many players for its potential impact on performance.

Denuvo DRM is an anti-piracy technology used in games to protect them by encrypting and securing their code, making it harder for pirates to crack and distribute unauthorized copies. Developers use Denuvo to safeguard their games from illegal copying, ensuring fair compensation for their work.

But many gamers criticize the use of Denuvo, due to performance issues that have appeared after the software has been added to many games, like Rime, Payday 3, and Syberia 3.

Despite this, well-optimized titles such as FIFA 23, The Quarry, and Battlefield 2042, all employing Denuvo, remain unaffected.

So, even if Denuvo ends up as part of the final games' version, that doesn't necessarily mean that there will be issues in The Sims 5.

Moreover, since this leaked game build is just a playtest for a very early stage in The Sims 5, the Denuvo software might also just be in there to prevent leaks before release.
