Since Wuthering Waves is a gacha game, one of its main features for getting new characters is the gacha pull-system! So how are the actual odds to get your dream character?
Wuthering Waves is, just like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Impact 3rd, a gatcha game. In other words, it is possible for players to get new characters and weapons by pulling on a banner. What you get is, to a large extent, purely based on luck. However, there are a few rules that take action if you are particularly unlucky! It's important to remember that you are never obligated to pull for more characters than the game gives you just by playing. The game is one hundred percent playable without spending any money and is at least as much fun! (Maybe even more in some cases …)
Wuthering Waves: Summoning System Explained
Just as every other gacha game, Wuthering Waves has its own in game currency which you can use to pull characters, called Resonators, or weapons with.
Disclaimer: All the information provided is based on the CBT2.
Wuthering Waves: Currency
The currency which allows you to wish for Resonators is called Astrite. Once you have collected 160 Astrite it can then be formed into one pull!
There are three different types of pulls in Wuthering Waves, which can all be crafted from Astrites. The limited character banner pulls are called Radiant Tide, the limited weapon banner pulls, are named Forging Tide and last but not least, we have the standard banner, which includes weapons and characters. This currency is called Lustrous Tide.
There are many ways how you can obtain Astrites, however, as you start your journey, you will get plenty of pulls from completing the main quest alone!
Wuthering Waves: Banners
Banners in Wuthering Waves are called “Convene”. In total, the game has five different Convenes, with each of them having different characters or weapons on them.
Two Convenes are for limited-time content, such as new Resonators and weapons. The next two banners are for permanent pulls. Many gacha gamers already know this as standard banners. The last of the five banners, is the beginner banner, which can only be used for 50 pulls and will disappear after. We will get to that in a second!
Banner Rates
One thing all banners have in common, (except for the beginner banner) is the amount of wishes you have to do, until you will get a guaranteed 4-Star and 5-Star unit:
4-Star pity: | 10 pulls |
5-Star pity: | 80 pulls |
5- Star soft pity: | 60-70 pulls |
Next to that, we also already know the rates at which the characters or weapons will drop:
- 0.8% chance of receiving a 5-Star character or weapon.
- 6.0% chance of receiving a 4-Star character or weapon.
The key differences between the limited character and the limited weapon banner is, that you do not have a 50/50 system with the weapons! That means, whenever you pull for a limited weapon, the chance of actually getting this exact weapon is 100%! As for Resonator banner, the 50/50 is still active, which means, if you lose the 50% chance of getting the featured character, you will instead get one from the standard banner!
Let's take a closer look at the banners!
Beginner Convene
Each gacha has its own starting banner, in Wuthering Waves, this banner features the five standard characters, guarantees you at least a single 5-Star standard character and comes with a discount when using pulls on it!
If you want to find out, which character can be found of this banner, check out the “Standard Convene” section of this guide!
Standard Convene – Resonators
The standard Convene features units, that will be obtainable throughout the entire time and won't disappear after a certain patch. You will need Lustrous Tides to pull on this banner. These are also the same units you will receive when losing your 50/50 on the limited character convene!
As of right now, there are five characters in the standard Convene:
- Verina – Spectro / Rectifier
- Calcharo – Electro / Broadblade
- Ling Yang – Glacio / Gauntlets
- Jianxin – Aero / Gauntlets
- Encore –Fusion / Rectifier
I think with this selection, there is probably the right character for everyone!
Standard Convene – Weapons
The standard weapon Convene features weapons, that are not time-limited and will stay for the rest of the game. You will need Lustrous Tides to pull on this banner as well! These are the standard weapons:
- Emerald of Genesis – Sword
- Lustrous Razor – Broadblade
- Abyss Surges – Gauntlets
- Static Mist – Duel Pistols
- Cosmic Ripples – Rectifier
Limited Convene – Resonators
On this Convene, you will find the actual good stuff: The limited time Resonators! These are the characters, that will only be available for a certain amount of time, and are the more valuable ones as well!
As of right now, there are two characters in the limited Convene:
- Yinlin – Electro / Rectifier
- Jiyan – Aero / Broadblade
I definitely know who I will spend my Astrites on!
Limited Convene – Weapons
Last but not least, this banner is where you can find the signature weapons for the limited Resonators. The best feature on this banner, is that you can't lose your 50/50 here, pretty neat in my opinion! These two weapons will be available on the limited banner once the game releases:
- Verdant Summit – Broadblade (Jiyan weapon)
- Stringmaster – Recrifier (Yinlin weapon)
And this sums up our little Summoning guide for Wuthering Waves! Did you already find a Resonator that you definitely will pull for?
