The LCS is looking to make some more changes going into the 2024 Summer Split. Esports reporter Travis Gafford revealed new information regarding the format of the Summer Split. According to his sources, the LCS is going to be moving away from best-of-one's in the coming split.

Viewership in the LCS has been declining and Riot have tried multiple adjustments to bring the league back its glory days. This best-of-three change isn't the only one Riot has planned, though.

League of Legends: LCS Moving To Best-Of-Three Format According To Sources

On April 18, Travis Gafford released a video in which he outlined that the LCS is going to be moving to a best-of-three format in the upcoming Summer Split. He explained that his sources have confirmed this with him, but right now the LCS has not made any official statements yet.

Not only does it seem like the LCS will have a new format, the tournament is also going to be a single round-robin, which is a bit unfortunate. The League will continue to operate on weekends only, like it has been doing throughout the Spring Split, with all best-of-three games on Saturday's and Sunday's. This differs from the best-of-three format the LPL and LCK have, where games take place even during the week.

The LCS will also be taking a 2-week break in the middle, much like they did in the Spring Split. Only this time around, the break will be filled with the 2024 Esports World Cup taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

But it seems like the LCS is trying everything and anything to see whether viewership can rise once more. Will this be the change the league has needed? This is the first time since 2017 that we get best-of-three's in the regular season of the LCS, so it'll be interesting to compare the viewership numbers from back then to today.
