The entire Monster Hunter fan community was eagerly anticipating the Tokyo Games Show 2023 in Japan, hoping to hear news about Monster Hunter 6, and Capcom (sort of) delivered. Hype for the next MH game rose even higher, after an insider teased a possible reveal coming soon.
Capcom shared some news on their upcoming games during their Tokyo Games Show presentation in September, including a gameplay trailer of Dragon's Dogma 2, new details about the upcoming Street Fighter 6 DLC character, and even a hint towards Monster Hunter 6!
Now, hype is once again on the raise as Capcom insider Dusk Golem revealed that the game could be announced in December.
Monster Hunter 6 Reveal Teased By Capcom Insider
In a series of discord posts, Dusk Golem, who accurately revealed insider details on Capcom games multiple times in the past, teased the reveal of a "big Capcom game" coming in "late 2023". They clarified, that this reveal is not about Resident Evil, so Monster Hunter is the next best candidate for this announcement.
Considering that the year is almost over, it would make sense for "late 2023" to fall into December. The perfect sport for a big Capcom announcement would be The Game Awards on December 7, where the next Monster Hunter could finally be revealed.
Even if Dusk Golem is a trustworthy source, it's still advised to take any kind of claim with a grain of salt, until Monster Hunter 6 is officially confirmed by Capcom.
What Capcom Previously Said About The Next Installment In The Series
March 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series, and Capcom wants to celebrate it with all around the globe. They even set up a new website just for that occasion.
For the time being there isn't much to see, but the Monster Hunter Team left a message for everyone and a specific phrase stands out:
Monster Hunter: World managed to resonate with people all over the world. Even though the pandemic prevented us from meeting with many of you directly, you have sent us so many warm messages online. We cannot thank all of you enough for all that you have given to the series.
Furthermore, the last line ultimately seals the deal:
With these 20 years of success behind us, we hope to ride this momentum and bring you bigger, better, and even more exciting hunting experiences that will thrill and surprise you.
Since Monster Hunter is one of Capcom's most profitable franchise, with Monster Hunter: World being their best-selling game of all time, it's likely that the next game will share many similarities with their most successful installment. Personally, I still hope for a hybrid of MH: World and MH: Rise!
In the end, it's only natural that fans are eager to learn more about the next installment. But for now we need to be patient and let the developer cook a little bit more until the 20th anniversary arrives in March 2024.
