Killer Soup has taken Netflix by storm. And since it premiered on January 11, people have been asking the same question: Will the show get renewed for season 2?
With Killer Soup, Netflix struck a cord with audiences. Following the story of the talentless chef Swathi Shetty who seeks to replace her husband with her lover Umesh, the show got thrill, humor, murderous ambition and drama.
Perfect for binge-watching, the first season has fans waiting for more. But will the show get renewed, or is that it?
Killer Soup Final Episode Explained
Before we get into the specifics of a potential second season, it's important to understand the ending of the first one. If you somehow ended up here without seeing the final episode, you might want to catch up before reading further: spoilers ahead!
The final episode was a rollercoaster of emotions: Umesh goes to the hospital after having too much of Swathi's soup with the newest addition of those wild mushrooms. Intoxicated from the soup, he spills the beans to Hassan to get rid of his guilt and ends up spitting blood.
So, Umesh is being rushed to the hospital while Swathi tries to outrun the consequences of her actions. Knowing her chances are rather slim, she jumps from a cliff in a last ditch effort to save herself.
Chances of survival are not great for either of them, but in the final moments of the show, Umesh and Swathi reunite on the bus and everything seems to be just peachy for the pair – Swathi managed to escape her fate of drowning and Umesh could stomach the soup after all.
But then: Thupalli sits on the roof of the bus. Wait, what? Is this the afterlife? And yes, it is. Neither Thupalli nor Umesh and Swathi made it out, but have each other at last for eternity.
Killer Soup Season 2 – Is It Happening?
With Umesh and Swathi having met their end, chances for a renewal are rather slim, unfortunately. Accordingly, Netflix has not yet announced a second season of Killer Soup to look forward to.
The success of Killer Soup had may convince Netflix to continue with other stories, even if not those of Swathi and Umesh.
There would still be enough plot threads to follow up with a second season – Apeksha comes to mind. Hassan surely hasn't finished up with his investigation, either.
So, there's still a teeny-tiny bit of hope left for Killer Soup's renewal. Still, we wouldn't hold our breath.
