Netflix is growing its anime collection. We all know that the streaming service has a tight grip on the popular Studio Ghibli films, but there are a lot of other popular animated movies from Japan that still get added to the platform over time. One of the most popular titles in recent years is finally making it to the platform.

Suzume, directed by the well-known filmmaker Makoto Shinkai, is finally coming to Netflix in the United States as per the official Netflix account on Twitter/X.

The film follows Suzume, a young girl who embarks on a journey across Japan to close mysterious portals that cause disasters. Along the way, she confronts her past traumas and learns about resilience and healing through connections with others and her surroundings.

The movie was a huge success, grossing over $200 million worldwide. This includes both domestic (Japanese) and international markets.

The movie was directed by Makoto Shinkai, who is known for his works like Your Name and Weathering with you, which were also domestic and international success stories. Your Name managed to rake in approximately $380 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing anime films of all time.

Fans of Shinkai's work can also watch Suzume on Crunchyroll, where the movie is also available, but with it coming to Netflix, a much larger and broader viewership can be obtained since a lot more people have a Netflix account. Though it has not been revealed how long, Suzume will be available on Netflix. So if you're interested, better watch it soon, just in case.
