Lucasfilm and Disney are exploring the Star Wars books with The Acolyte, covering time time before The Phantom Menace. But it's going to be disappointingly short.
In a galaxy far, far away, the disappointment rises. While fans have been excited for The Acolyte, the newest entry in the Star Wars franchise, it's going to be over before we even know it. Maybe that's just to test the waters and see if The Acolyte is worth a second season, considering the creator Leslye Headland already has ideas?
Pretty disappointing news for fans, especially after the dope trailer, but one step at a time before we take another look at that: how short is "short", exactly?

The show premieres on June 4, 2024 on Disney+, but if you're a fan of episodes that go on for an hour, maybe tone down your expectations a little bit.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is going to have eight episodes to start with, each with a runtime of 30 to 35 minutes. That's rather short for an epic tale and the fact that even the final episode also only has 40 minutes doesn't exactly spark enthusiasm.
If the showrunners know what they're doing, that can be enough. If they don't, they might rush through promising plot threads and leave fans disappointed and opportunities for an amazing story untapped. Fingers crossed for a good show, though – the galactic glass should be half-full at all times, considering the trailer already got fans hyped up!
Star Wars: The Acolyte Got Its First Trailer
The first glimpse of Star Wars: The Acolyte paints a vivid picture: In the midst of the Jedi's golden age, a mysterious figure appears, leaving a trail of murdered Jedi in its wake.
The trailer introduces several Jedi characters, most notably Lee Jung-jae's Jedi Master, who becomes involved in the investigation of these murders. In addition, Carrie-Anne Moss, known for her role in The Matrix, shows off her lightsaber skills in an action packed scene.
Star Wars: The Acolyte will premiere on June 4, 2024, exclusively on Disney+. It is the first live-action series from the Star Wars universe to debut this year.
Other series scheduled for release this year include Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. However, the status of Star Wars: Andor Season 2 remains uncertain, although indications point to a 2025 release.
When Acolyte launches, you can look forward to a double episode to kick off the season, which follows the pattern of other Star Wars shows from Disney.
