Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 changed the vault system. Medallions can't open up vaults anymore, but what exactly happened here?
In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, a lot has changed, including the vaults! Until now, they were filled with a lot of gold, good loot and an extreme amount of healing items. Now, the system around the vaults has massively changed. Ne'll explain where you can still find them and what happened to the old ones.
Vaults In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Replaced?
In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, there were a total of 5 Boss Vaults. You could open them with the medallion of the respective boss. However, that's gone in Chapter 5 Season 2! The new locations so far have no dedicated vaults. But the old ones from the last season have also changed.
Now, the vaults are always open! Of course, that means that the loot isn't as good as before. But you can still visit them for at least a chest and some gold. You can find the old vaults here:
Small Vaults Remain In Fortnite
There are still four smaller vaults in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. These are guarded by just one minion but include a rare chest among other items. Now that the boss-vaults are no longer in the game, these vaults could gain more and more importance.
You open the vaults by eliminating the guarding NPC and submitting their keycard at the terminal in front of the vault. We've mapped out the vaults for you here:
Costal Comms
There is a small station in the northeast of the map on the mountains. That's where you'll find the first vault.
Estate Station
Another vault is located at the train station in the north of the map, in the south of Lavish Lair.
Rebel's Roost
While not exactly in Rebel's Roost, you should find it in the forest in a small fenced station from there.
Unmoored Manor
The seaside villa in the south is a really underrated spot. Here you'll find the fourth vault.
New Bunkers Are The Vaults 2.0
Don't worry, there's a new alternative to the vaults. The new bunkers, which will open in the early phase of every game. There, you'll find the best loot by far and the popular workbenches with which you can modify your weapons. We already covered them in another article.
And that's all! We will update you as soon as there is anything new about the vaults inf Fortnite. Wherever you land, we wish you a lot of fun looting!
