In a live stream, Geoff Keighley gave us a closer look at the new DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 along with a direct comparison to its DualShock 4 predecessor.

When Sony heralds the next console generation with the PlayStation 5 in winter, a brand-new controller will also await us. It is called DualSense and comes up with innovative functions. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has introduced some of them in detail.

PS5: DualSense Controller in Comparison

There are many rumors about the exact dimensions of the new DualSense controller. But thanks to a live stream, we finally know how big the gamepad of the PlayStation 5 really is. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley presented the PS5 controller in a hands-on livestream.Via Twitter, Keighley showed a direct comparison to the DualShock predecessor model of the PlayStation 4. While the size seems to remain more or less the same, the DualSense turns out considerably more massive.

The two handles for holding the controller are also larger, which should provide a better grip in heated firefights on the screen. According to Keighley, the DualSense also weighs more than its predecessor and generally feels more "structured and complete".

The controller's internal speaker has also been redesigned and greatly improved. Now you can even hear steps directly through the DualSense, as Keighley shows in Astro's Playroom.

DualSense Controller: The Features

The features include haptic feedback and adaptive triggers (L2 and R2), thanks to which game details on the screen are supposed to give you a different feeling in your hand.

According to Sony, the battery life has been further improved, and the gamepad also features a create button, built-in microphone, jack plug, and a light bar next to the touchpad. The Japanese still owe us the release date for the PlayStation 5 and the DualSense controller, though. According to a price leak, the gamepad could become about as expensive as its predecessor model with around 60 euro.
