The PS5 DualSense controller will come out with various innovative functions. According to the creators, through haptic feedback the controller will pick up cues from the in-game sound effects to create realistic vibrations.

Adaptive Trigger and new vibrations alongside the PS5 DualSense controller should create a more intense and immersive game feel. It’s no wonder that the gamepad will be equipped with a larger battery. Sony recently spoke out about their usage of haptic feedback which will utilize sound effects from the games to create the controller vibrations.

PS5 DualSense: This is How Haptic Feedback Works

As we already know the PS5 DualSense controller can simulate a weapon jamming or the resistance of different road surfaces in racing games in thanks to the adaptive trigger.

According to DualShockers citing Sony R&D engineer Yukari Konishi the possibilities of the haptic feedback technology have been expanded further.

Developers have programmed a new algorithm with which they can utilize in-game sound effects as a source for specific vibrations running through the controller:

We offer game creators the ability to explore how they can heighten the feeling of immersion by incorporating the sense of touch.

The Logitech G923 TrueForce steering wheel which came out late August and is also compatible with the PlayStation 5, already uses a similar principle. The steering wheel comes with an advanced force feedback system that takes hold of the audio system of racing games to create micro-vibrations that mimic road conditions or add motor noise.

This goes to show that if PlayStation plays its cards right, it can use this impressive technology to create even more immersive and mesmerizing gameplay for gamers.
