Epic Games Achievements are launching this week, providing an Xbox-style achievements system for Epic Games titles such as Rocket League. Additionally, a set of tools are being provided to developers, so that they can activate platform Achievements "quickly and easily".

Starting next week, players will be able to begin collecting XP by simply earning various Epic Achievements within their favorite Epic Games titles. We'll go into exactly how they work in a minute, but we do want to note that an achievement's system already existed for Rocket League. The thing is, it was entirely operated by Psyonix, and now that Epic Games have launched their own system, we may see XP transferred between games.

What Games Have Epic Achievements?

  • Rocket League
  • Hades
  • Pillars of Eternity
  • Kena
  • Zombie Army 4
  • Alan Wake Remastered
  • More...

Epic Achievements will likely come to even more games as it is rolled out over the next few months. This is pretty exciting news, as with Trophies on PlayStation and Achievements on Xbox, we have seen these type of incentives work well for games.

How do XP and Epic Achievements work in Rocket League?

In Rocket League (and all other included games), Epic Achievements are sorted into different tiers based on their XP Value. You complete achievements, and earn their resulting XP, by doing various tasks in-game. For example, one Rocket League Achievement shown in Epic Games' announcement is called "Drift King". This one requires players to "Perform a 180 powerslide with Dominus or Takumi", and will reward the player with 50XP. Different XP values put your achievement in different tiers! Here are those tiers:

What are the Epic Achievement Tiers?

  • Bronze: 5-45 XP
  • Silver: 50-95 XP
  • Gold: 100-200 XP
  • Platinum: 250 XP

Games that feature Epic Achievements, such as Rocket League, are set to receive a new "Achievements detail page" where you can share and track your progress. In Epic Games' press release, they said the following:

This page outlines all Epic Achievements available for the game, showcases your progress towards each, and highlights Epic Achievements you’re close to unlocking. Epic Achievements and your Achievement progress per game are now displayed in your library. You can also see all available Epic Achievements on Game Detail Pages while browsing in the store.

Obviously we can expect more updates to come, including further details and a launch later this week. We'll update you on this.

Also, don't fret! Your Rocket League Developer Achievements are not going away with the introduction of Rocket League Epic Achievements. They will remain functional, and Psyonix have confirmed that your hard work won't be lost. In other words: calm down, everything will be fine.
